Dream occupation
My dream since I was a little kid was to become a doctor. For Halloween I would dress up as a doctor or when I had dress up days. I keep telling myself it is never too late to become a doctor but first I would have to get into the nursing program. Then finish the nursing program and pass the boards then go from there. The positive thing about going to school at a young age is you have a head starts since medical school is 4 years. Then must complete a residency and then typically another four to seven years. To able to have a chance and become a doctor at a young age would be amazing. I want to work in the operating room with the surgeon where we would have an immediate impact on patients. Every day would be like it’s a gift to have the opportunity to care for patients in their most vulnerable times. Despite the stress long hours away from home and family I could never imagine a different career. To become a doctor, you would have to be driven spirit and committed to helping people. Doctors are grateful for the opportunity to care for others, proud of their ability to diagnosis and treat and inspired by the trust their patients put in them. I would like to be the first person the patient sees when they wake up from surgery. Doctors don’t really have a life you pretty much have to decided what compromises to make such as deciding if leaving work at 5pm is more important than staying late to operate on you patient who has a complication you created. Also, you would have to find partners you can trust with the lives of your patients. For a lot of surgeon’s fulfillment is measured by the satisfaction of knowing you made difference in someone’s life. The average for general surgeon works 50-60 hours per week and that is not counting being on call if possible. Having the adrenaline kick in in the operation room everyone being serious and concentrating on the patient vital sign making sure everything is running smooth. Many people would think I am crazy thinking this is a dream life working long hours always being stressful under the situation having to stay late at the last minute. Being called in on your day off spend less time with the family most people would think this is not a life. To me the work environment sounds so fascinating being able to help someone in need. Knowing that someone needed you, so they had to call you in. It is never to late to become a doctor or surgeon which this mean I must push myself closer to my goals.
